Today we are delighted to share an interview with Stefan Lindstrom, CEO of Turun Vapaavarasto. Mr. Lindstrom will give us an overview of the company's history, strengths and weaknesses, notable achievements and future plans.
Interviewer: Mr. Lindstrom Good morning. Can you tell us about the history of your company, its activities and its evolution over time?
Stefan Lindstrom: Turun Vapaavarasto was established in 1964 and is located next to the port of Turku. We provide storage services and a wide range of solutions, from intermediate storage to multi-dimensional 3PL and e-commerce solutions. We have come a long way since then and we offer cold and hot storage areas that can be tailored to your product requirements.
Interviewer: If you had to name the strengths and weaknesses of your company, what would they be?
Stefan Lindstrom: Our biggest strengths are that we are able to do anything in logistics and offer any kind of service, and that we are very flexible, suitable for any kind of transport. Our weaknesses, or rather what penalizes us the most, is that expanding our storage capacity and growth is very expensive.
Interviewer: Can you tell us about your company's first or most recent notable successes or achievements?
Stefan Lindstrom: Our most recent achievement is the implementation of a new, modern IRP system for the warehouse that can also be used by other companies. This is a Finnish company that does not use paper and is 100% digital. This has greatly improved our efficiency and made our operations more fluid.
Interviewer: How does your company ensure that it maintains high standards of quality and customer satisfaction?
Stefan Lindstrom: We have a falconry system in place to track quality, and every operation is monitored by someone to make sure everything is going well. We also care about the environment and have improved our energy consumption, in fact we are a green company using solar panels and other things.
Interviewer: Have you seen any noticeable changes over time in your business?
Stefan Lindstrom: Digititalization has been the most important change in our industry over the last 10 to 20 years. It has made communication between companies much easier and the flow between warehouses much faster and cheaper.
Interviewer: How have you dealt with this digitalization?
Stefan Lindstrom: The transition was smooth, because we discussed it with everyone in the company first. We were looking forward to the change because it made our work much easier.
Interviewer: Where do you see your company in five years?
Stefan Lindstrom: We are aiming for continued growth, which would follow a 26% growth. We are always looking for ways to improve our services and operations, and we hope to expand our reach over the next five years.
